Since long before I took up a camera, women's empowerment, gender equity, feminist issues, and gender justice have been deeply important to me. Women's bodies have been a battlefield, both for women and the realities that have been done to women. No one gets into this world save through the body of a woman. To honor women, to attempt to understand the common issues we face, to document women's lives, relationships, passions, bodies as well as to foment conversations, dialogues, exchanges about the human rights and agency of women has been an important subject matter in my work and in my personal life.
